XE.com is world’s most popular currency site, with over 280 million users worldwide.
The vast majority of visitors land on the homepage or currency converter pages. During 2018, I improved the intuitiveness of these key pages and integrated the new Money Transfer service.
Rate Comparison Table
The Rates table was a prominent feature on the original XE.com homepage, but the existing desktop design was very basic and was radically different from the mobile version.
I designed and tested multiple options that retained the power and flexibility of original table, but with more intuitive configuration and a layout that could scale gracefully between desktop and mobile.
I created highly complex interactive prototypes in Sketch and InVision to support common user-configuration flows and itterated on these designs during four rounds of task-based testing on usertesting.com.
Money Transfer Tab
To make the Money Transfer product more visible to visitors, we added the capability to provide a Money Transfer quote directly form the Currency Converter. After designing and reviewing several concepts, we decided on a tabbed approach.
I then itterated on the design, refining the tab headings, information layouts and calls-to-action, in five rounds of online testing using usertesting.com.
When launched, this design showed an immediate 50% increase in Money Transfer account registrations.
Rebrand
A branding agency, Someone, was engaged to revise the XE brand. They delivered a simpler, sharper and bolder personality for the company.
To illustrate how the new brand could be applied, I used the new colour palette, logo, fonts and backgrounds in revised screen designs for the XE.com homepage, as well as revising the whole Money Transfer flow.
